The Ace is an SAS original moccasin that is constructed with soft and supple leather that wraps completely around the foot for amazing flexibility and additional support. The padded arch footbed is built into the moccasin and pairs perfectly with the leather lining to provide an extra comfortable, cushioned step.
Buckeyebob review by Robert Nunn on 7/19/2017
On a business trip to San Antonio in 1992, had spare time and went to mall, saw these shoes, and purchased pair of black and pair of brown. In 2012, when I retired and moved back to Ohio, I had to throw the black pair out after only 20 years of regular wear, and it broke my heart. Still have the brown pair only 25 years later, and they have many years left in them. Replaced the black ones last week, so you may not see me again for 20-25 years. WHAT A PRODUCT!!!!! Best shoe I have ever owned. Cannot imagine a more comfortable, better made, more durable show than these SAS shoes.
Great little moccasins review by C on 9/3/2016
I have worn my SAS Ace shoes for five years - - every day, and I do not mean rotating them every other day (which shoes really need in order not to degrade the footbed) , I couldn't count the miles I have put on those Ace. I am sending them for resoling to try to make them last another five. Five years without resoling - -when worn every day with no rotation- - I think is impressive for a $165 office shoe.
Ace are office moccasins, kind of around the loafer end in the office-shoe spectrum - - other side from the CEO's whole-cut or maybe oxford cap-toe. What you don't get in style from the Ace, you get in comfort !
I'm a software guy, so I fit in a casual office-shoe crowd (my teammates often wear sneakers). These shoes are great when I'm not trying to look like an executive. This little moccasin has rewarding comfort.
Since I only thought to use cream polish (conditioner with pigment; doubt you'd use wax polish on these casual shoes) every year or two, I am impressed the leather didn't dry out terribly. A multitude of times after work I took advantage of a lake nearby my office, and sometimes accidentally got a wet foot or muddy shoe while boating; later I didn't use anything to properly clean my shoes except warm water . This year I conditioned them with Saphir Renovateur, and the leather, still strong and intact, got visibly soft and supple. The insole is torn and falling apart (again, I did not know how to treat these shoes properly - -this is not SAS' fault, footbeds do mold and fall apart with the continuous wear I gave this one - -including the lake), yet still I pick them first when relaxing comfort is my top want for the day.
My one regret, which also happened with all the sneakers I wore during that time, is a tiny tear at the top of the heel counter: During the first five years I wore this shoe, I didn't use a shoe horn. Well, that's why SAS gives you a shoe horn in the box (d'oh !) - - use it.
Quality, comfort, and fit are very important to SAS. Because of this, we always recommend being fitted for SAS shoes at one of our retail stores whenever possible. Our in-store fittings include the use of The Brannock Device to get an indication of proper size. A shoe is not ‘fitted’ until it is placed on the foot, but the fitting process can begin with this device. Size is first measured heel to toe, then the arch measurement is taken from ball to heel and width measurement is indicated on the outer side of the foot. Both feet are measured and a variety of sizes and widths may be recommended to try before making a final selection.

Tips for Measuring and Fitting
- Remember, when we go up in size, the width may also increase.
- All styles fit differently.
- Many customers may require doctor recommended orthotics. Inserts may require added depth in the shoe and make it fit differently, so try to account for this adjustment.
