Walk a mile review by Rodney on 10/11/2017
It was 1995, I was explaining to my mom how hard it was to find comfortable shoes. She told me to go to the SAS shoe store which I had never heard of before. She also said I wouldn't be disappointed. I purchased a pair of pathfinders and after wearing them a few days I was very pleased with how comfortable they were. She was right I wasn't disappointed. In 2004 I purchased a second pair. Now I'm on my third pair and they're still as comfortable as they've always been. I know they quit making them for awhile but they're back now and man am I happy about that. I'm a SAS shoe buyer for life.
Extremely Comfortable Shoes worth the money review by Mark on 10/2/2017
I found these shoes on the SAS website and asked the local shoe store if they could me a pair in size 15. My feet had been hurting due to wearing safety shoes with an internal metatarsal guard. Basically a casual shoe with a protected steel toe and a hard strip in the tongue of the shoes to protect feet from falling objects. I quite wearing the safety shoes and started wearing running shoes with extra inserts to get my feet to heal / stop hurting. I need to wear safety shoes for work when visiting production areas. Now changed to a boot with external guards that do not match business casual clothing so I wear my SAS all the time but maybe 45 minutes in a day.
The store said to wear the SAS shoes on carpet and that they could be returned up to 30 days later if I decided I did not like them. I wore them for about 4 days on carpet and was a little unsure, they were comfortable but not any better than some other shoes I had. I accidentally scuffed the leather near the heel and figured I would need to keep them. After deciding to keep them I walked 1 mile in them over my lunch break. Later in the day I noticed the shoes were more comfortable. The next day when I put them on they were very comfortable and have been so for the last month of so.
Interestingly they seem to be softer when walking on hard surfaces, the best way to describe; feels similar to stepping onto a comfort mat or deep pile carpeting from a hard concrete floor.
I walked a few miles on a hilly path covered with freshly placed crushed limestone I know with other shoes I would be able to feel the stones poking the balls of my feet. (Stones were irregularity shaped and about 1-1/2" in size, similar to rock used on gravel roads in Mid-West States) With these shoes absolutely no pain.
I wish they made a saftey shoe that was this comfortable.
Designer review by Rodney on 9/13/2017
I've had many a SAS shoe style but the Pathfinder in my opinion is definitely the best they've ever had, not that the other SAS shoes were bad they were comfortable as well. The Pathfinder is without a doubt the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. I've worn out two pair over the years which takes a very long time to do and have started on my third. I'm happy they're back. I can't imagine life without Pathfinders. I hope they're here to stay for good.
Quality, comfort, and fit are very important to SAS. Because of this, we always recommend being fitted for SAS shoes at one of our retail stores whenever possible. Our in-store fittings include the use of The Brannock Device to get an indication of proper size. A shoe is not ‘fitted’ until it is placed on the foot, but the fitting process can begin with this device. Size is first measured heel to toe, then the arch measurement is taken from ball to heel and width measurement is indicated on the outer side of the foot. Both feet are measured and a variety of sizes and widths may be recommended to try before making a final selection.

Tips for Measuring and Fitting
- Remember, when we go up in size, the width may also increase.
- All styles fit differently.
- Many customers may require doctor recommended orthotics. Inserts may require added depth in the shoe and make it fit differently, so try to account for this adjustment.
